Enable Flash in Browser

SPECIAL NOTEAdobe has announced Flash will reach End of Life in 2020, meaning all support will cease. Browsers have already been defaulting to blocking Flash since 2017 and will begin decreasing support of Flash as 2020 approaches. We are working with our universities on the BlueVolt platform to get any Flash content updated ahead of this. If you are a university admin and you have questions, please contact your BlueVolt Customer Success Manager.

Enable Flash in Most Browsers

  1. Make sure you're using the most recent version of your browser.
  2. If you're using a mobile device like an iPhone, iPad, or Android device, you may see a gray screen instead of the course material. Many of the courses we host were developed to use Adobe Flash, and most mobile devices do not run Flash due to power consumption and device security concerns.  If you see this gray screen after launching your course module on a mobile device, you'll need to use a laptop or desktop computer to view the course.
  3. Make sure that Flash is enabled for go.bluevolt.com. The instructions vary by browser, and are as follows:
  • Enable Flash in Chrome
    First log in and visit the Course Outline page (with the launch buttons). Then click the green padlock at the far left of Chrome's address bar and check for Flash in the drop-down menu. Make sure it says "Always Allow on this site" then refresh the Course Outline page in your browser. If you don't see Flash listed, click Site Settings in the drop-down menu, find & allow Flash from the Settings page, and then refresh the Course Outline page in your browser.
  • Enable Flash in Firefox:
    Click the menu button in the top right, then select “Add-ons”, and then click “Plugins” in the sidebar. Locate “Shockwave Flash” in the list, then click the drop-down box to the right of it and select “Ask to Activate”. Now visit your course page and launch the course module containing Flash content. When the pop-up loads you’ll see a lego-like "plugin" icon appear in the left of the address bar. Click it and select “Allow and Remember” to permanently give go.bluevolt.com the ability to run necessary Flash content.
  • Enable Flash in Edge
    Click the "..." button to access the Edge menu, then select the "Settings" menu item. Click on the Site Permissions link on the left, then locate "Adobe Flash" in the main window and click it. Toggle the switch for "Ask before running Flash" to the on/blue position. Close the settings and refresh your course page. When you launch your course module, Edge should ask if you would like to allow it to run Flash. If you have previously closed (or missed!) this prompt without making a choice to allow it or not, then the Flash content on that web page is blocked. When that happens, you see a puzzle piece as in the screenshot below:



    Edge shows this icon when Flash is blocked, and it needs your approval to run. Click on that icon and the “Adobe Flash content was blocked”prompt is shown. Select "Allow" so that necessary Flash content will be allowed to run for your course on go.bluevolt.com.

 

  • Enable Flash in Safari for Mac OS X 10.11, MacOS 10.12, and later:
  1. Open Safari, and choose Safari > Preferences
  2. Click the Websites tab and scroll down to the Plug-ins section. Locate the Adobe Flash Player entry.
  3. Click the check box to enable Flash Player.
  4. Select a setting to use for Flash Player when you visit other websites.
  5. You can configure Flash for individual websites (domains). Select BlueVolt listed in this window and choose On.
  6. Exit Preferences after you finish configuring Flash Player.

 

  • ​Enable Flash in Internet Explorer:

Microsoft ceased support and updates for Internet Explorer effective January 12, 2016, meaning the browser is "end of life". This means the browser is not optimized for current, modern websites. While you can access BlueVolt from Internet Explorer, most courses will not work. we encourage you to download a current browser like the ones above. 

 

Alternatively, you can also try viewing the course from a different browser.
