SCORM is an industry standard for online training; it was originally developed by the US Department of Defense. The BlueVolt platform is SCORM compliant, meaning that we can host online training that is SCORM compliant. It stands for “Shareable Content Object Reference Model.” SCORM defines how the training and results will be communicated to the platform. SCORM uses JavaScript API to send information to the LMS. A major benefit of SCORM is its ability to track whether a learner has fully completed a course or skipped content. It also allows the learner to start where they left off if they stop training before completing a course.
SCORM is the most predominantly used method of creating course content in the e-learning space today. Ease of use is often cited as the most significant advantage.
AICC predates SCORM and was originally designed for use in CD-ROM course delivery. Later, it was developed for e-learning content. AICC stands for "Aviation Industry CBT Committee" and uses the HTTP AICC Communication Protocol (HACP) standard to encourage communication between an existing LMS and the course content. This methodology is pretty straightforward and relies on HTML form to transmit information to and from the LMS. AICC is advantageous when you need to send secure information over HTTP as it's more secure than SCORM's JavaScript API. BlueVolt supports SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 (2nd, 3rd, and 4th editions), as well as AICC.Create a SCORM or AICC Module Type
